How to apply, create, and delete tags

Updated over 3 months ago

The tag is the most versatile tool to filter and organize your chart library. Think of tags like folders, but with one significant advantage: a chart can have multiple tags instead of being limited to a single folder.

Example: Your friend is someone with whom you work and also happens to love cats.

How to apply and create tags:

  • Open the chart you want to tag

  • Under Properties, open the Document tab, and locate the Tags field; clicking in the Tags field will display all existing tags

  • To apply a tag you’ve already created, type the first couple of letters to be given the full tag automatically

  • To create a new tag, write the keyword(s) and hit Enter, or click outside of the field to save the tag and have it applied to the chart you are viewing

In your Chart Library, you can use the Filter Tool to refine your search based on the tags you have applied.

When importing charts from MMI, you can convert folders to tags to retain your personal library structure.

How to delete a tag:

  • Open the Chart containing the tag you wish to delete

  • Click on the Document tab, then select Tags

  • When the Tag drop-down tag list appears, either:

    • Click the large X on the right of the Tag search bar to delete all tags, or

    • Click on the X next to each individual Tag to remove only that Tag.

Repeat this step with all the Charts using the tag you want to delete.
